Devotional Reflection

Wisdom is more than intelligence. It is the capacity to see life from God's perspective—to understand what truly matters, to discern good from evil, to act with grace in complex situations. The book of Proverbs calls wisdom 'the principal thing' and urges us to pursue it above all else.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. This is not terror, but reverence—a deep, awe-filled acknowledgment that God is God and we are not, that His ways are higher than our ways, and that submitting to His perspective is the wisest thing we can do.

James 1:5 is one of the most generous promises in Scripture: 'If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach.' God is not stingy with wisdom. He does not hold it back from those who ask sincerely.

Jesus is himself described as the wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:30). To grow in wisdom is to grow in Christlikeness—to think the way Jesus thinks, to see people the way Jesus sees them, to respond to life the way Jesus responds.

Ask boldly for wisdom today. God delights to give it.

A Prayer for Wisdom

Lord, I need Your wisdom for the decisions I am facing. I confess that my own understanding is limited. Give me the wisdom that comes from above—wisdom that is pure, peaceable, and full of mercy. Help me to fear You rightly, to listen more and speak less, and to see the world through Your eyes. Grant me discernment for this season. Amen.
