Heaven

Scripture on Heaven
“In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

Devotional Reflection
Heaven is not a vague spiritual cloud where souls drift forever. It is a place—a city prepared by God, a new creation that exceeds everything our imagination can construct. 'Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man the things God has prepared for those who love Him.'
The hope of heaven is meant to reshape how we live today. Paul says our 'light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all' (2 Corinthians 4:17). This is not denial of suffering—it is perspective. Placed next to eternity, even great suffering becomes momentary.
Jesus promised to prepare a place for us and to come back to take us there. This was His final, most personal promise before the cross: 'I will come again, and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.' Heaven's greatest treasure is not the streets of gold or the absence of pain—it is the presence of Jesus.
Colossians 3 calls us to 'set our affection on things above.' This does not mean we disengage from earth, but that we invest in what lasts—relationships, character, the kingdom of God. We are citizens of heaven living on earth.
This world is not all there is. The best is yet to come.
A Prayer for Heaven
Lord, thank You that this world is not my home. Lift my eyes to eternity when the struggles of this life feel overwhelming. Help me to live with heaven in view — investing in what will last, loving people with eternal perspective, and holding earthly things with open hands. I look forward to being with You forever. Amen.
